The King of Late Night - Greg Gutfeld

Greg Gutfeld is one of those guys who regularly offends people whose political beliefs are on the left. But he is as far left as you can possibly get on some issues, such as the legalization of all drugs, for instance. The same Greg Gutfeld is also one of those guy's whose political commentary regularly offends people whose politics are on the right. But he shares many, if not most, of his beliefs with those very same people. Simply put, Greg Gutfeld calls them as he seems them, issue by issue, without really being very worried about what anyone thinks about what he has to say or how he says it...including his bosses at the generally conservative Fox News television network. (High Ratings, after all, cover a magnitude of sins.)

That's what makes the man such a threat to those who are terrified by people they can't control, people who dare challenge the monopoly choke-hold that the left has had on the media for the last couple of decades. They can't control Gutfeld, and he's been beating them at their own game for a while now. Gutfeld likes to say that it's all about "flipping" a few things: your way of thinking; Twitter; the narrative; Hollywood; the Conservative script; humor; etc. In The King of Late Night, he tells readers exactly what he's been up to, and how Gutfeld! knocked off each of the highest rated late night television shows one by one until it became the highest-rated late night show on television - a position the show has enjoyed for many consecutive months now.

The King of Late Night is combination biography, memoir, and humor that fans of the show are likely to love. Those who despise Gutfeld for who they perceive him to be are not likely to read the book at all - not that that will keep them from negatively reviewing it. Most interesting will be the reaction of readers in the center, and whether or not Gutfeld will "flip" any of them from center-left to center-right. That's something we'll never know for sure, but Gutfeld just keeps chipping away at it.

Love him or hate him, Greg Gutfeld is a funny man with a fearless attitude, and I'll miss him if the cancel culture crusaders ever do manage to silence him.

  1. Gutfeld can be very funny at times. I don't agree with everything he says or believes, but he is very articulate, and smart, too. And I like that he doesn't take anyone or anything too seriously. I can see why you liked his book.

    1. I'm like you in that I don't come near to agreeing with everything he says. But he is so consistent in his viewpoints - or admits when he's been convinced otherwise by a better argument - that I find myself willing to listen to everything he says. He's definitely moved me nearer dead center than I've been in a long time. And he makes me laugh because of how how he heaps ridicule on both sides of the political spectrum. Sort of reminds me of the kind of comedy I grew up on.
