Elizabeth Strout, born in Portland, Maine in 1956, has found great success with her Olive Kitteridge and Lucy Barton series of novels. She won the 2009 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction for Olive Kitteridge, a novel that was adapted into a well received Emmy Award-winning television mini-series. Worth noting is how often characters from previous novels have major roles, or cameo appearances, in succeeding novels.
