Happy Bookish Mother's Day to All
Happy Mother's Day, everyone. Enjoy the day! Here's hoping you add a few books to your "emotional support pile" today. (I think I'm going to start using "ESP stack" in place of "TBR stack" from now on).

I like that: Emotional Support Pile! That's definitely what all the books on my bookshelves are for me...both read and unread. :D
ReplyDeleteThat description most definitely works for me. You know, I actually remember how it felt in the Old Days when I was about to finish the only unread book in the house. In those days, I could barely afford books and could only get to the library on a Saturday...which was often impossible...and e-books and Amazon, etc. didn't exist. We've come a long way.
DeleteLOL - so funny, I'm creating my emotional support summer reading list of 20 books I hope to read between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Let's see if I can stick with what I THINK I want to read this summer.
ReplyDeleteWow...that's ambitious, Diane. I wouldn't dare try to look that far ahead. :-)
DeleteLove the cartoon. I've been doing my best not to add to my virtual pile this week, instead I picked up library books and reserved a couple more. Seems strange getting back into the library swing of things.
ReplyDeleteLibraries are just the best thing going, Cath; don't know how I would ever manage without them.
DeleteBy the way, one of my friends from just outside London won 30,000 pounds on the ITV quiz show "Beat the Chasers" last Wednesday. Her name is Caroline Brouwer and she seemed more surprised at winning when it was over than anyone else. She really did well against three "chasers." Don't know how popular that show is, but I got a kick out of the format. It's pretty cleverly designed.
I had to Google it because I didn't realise it was to do with Bradley Walsh's show, The Chase. (That's a very popular show.) I don't watch it so didn't make the connection. I Googled your friend on it too and there she is. Crikey, it's a small world, Sam. Well done her anyway!
DeleteShe really did well, Cath, but I'm not at all surprised. Caroline has one of those minds that is always asking questions and looking for answers...and she's an avid world traveler. That looks like a fun show to watch, and she says that her experience was pleasant even though she didn't get to meet the "chasers" because they were filming new shows still as she left.
DeleteLOL... this is hilarious! My emotional support pile has a virtual component, too. I NEED to carry a kindle in my purse almost everywhere.
ReplyDeleteThat is so perfect a term for our TBR stacks, that it's a wonder no one thought of it before now. I love it.
DeleteHa ha ha. I love this!
ReplyDeleteSusan, I'm going to tell my wife that the book I'm carrying with us when we leave the house is my emotional support book...doubt she buys it though.
