Nympho Librarian

You guys know how much I love and enjoy those old paperback covers from the fifties - as I've posted in several "Sinful Saturday" topics here on Book Chase.

Well, this one is destined to become one of my all-time favorites as it combines my love of books and libraries with my love of pulp fiction covers:

What a multi-tasker...he's still holding tight to his favorite book.

I hope all my librarian friends out there have a good sense of humor...if not, let me hear from you anyway.

  1. I wonder if this is where the "sexy librarian" stereotype started? She's sort of halfway between that and "stuffy librarian" - she still has the bun and thick glasses, but then there's...the rest. Lol...

  2. Might just be, Library Girl. Hollywood made a fortune using that stereotype for a few decades...even television used it over and over and over.

  3. Turns out this cover is from 1970...I'm really surprised by that but that's the only edition of the book ever published, so it has to be right. I saw it for sale at $425 in a book dealer's catalog from late 2010.

  4. LOL thats hilarious, my local libarians are well over the age of 65, perhaps in their younger days....

  5. Sounds like my library, Jessica...maybe that's how they were in the swinging 1960s. :-)

  6. This is hilarious! I'm sure I remember some covers like these from the past. They were probably on the Harlequins my sister Gail used to read!

  7. No kidding, the guy still has the book in his hand....... yet no shirt on! How did that happen?
What a classic cover, I love it.
    And such an unambiguous title!

  8. Well, that's obvious, Cip. He's such a dedicated reader and loves books so much that he immediately picked up his book again after removing his shirt. His priorities may be a little mixed up, but he seems like a contented enough guy. :-)

  9. Well, Susan, all I have to say is that my favorite librarian is apparently not a fashion critic.

  10. Why has nothing like this [even remotely] ever happened to me in a Library?
What am I doing wrong, Sam?

  11. Maybe you need some cool orange pants like his...

  12. Well, I'm a librarian, and I think it's hilarious. And I don't mind his orange pants at all. Takes a secure man to wear orange pants.

  13. That it does, Citizen Reader, but some would say, as evidenced by his tight grip on his book, that he's a bit of a nerd and that explains the orange pants... :-)

  14. Just to be fair, it was the '70's, so those may very well be rust colored corduroys.

  15. You might be right, Rag Doll...the '70s had some weird color things going on for sure.

  16. Man, I wear strange colored pants all the time in the library and this never happens to me. The only thing that does happen is funny looks, and people asking me "hey, what's with the purple hulk sweatpants?"
