"Wow, you people get really bent out of shape by an unattributed use of your reviews, or parts of your reviews, don't you? I was simply posting reviews to continue getting free stuff from the Vine. No big deal in my world."
(Hint: think "Lucky Billy")
And, yes, he's speaking to us.
He just doesn't get it...and that's what's really scary. I wouldn't want to live in his "world."
ReplyDeleteAnd I definitely don't want to live in the sad little empty lives you bookworms apparently have. Get over yourselves, it's just some lame little book reviews, not a Pulitzer Prize winning novel you're writing.
ReplyDeleteThat guy must be related to Joe Biden if he thinks there is nothing wrong with plagiarism.
ReplyDeleteYou guys remind me of programmers who post their Open Source code projects to the Internet and get mad when people cannibalize them for their own use. That's why it's called Open Source, and once it gets posted to the Internet it is public domain. Just like your little book reviews, once they get posted to the public Internet, they are in the public domain. You can argue ethics about using book reviews all you want, but the bottom line is that it's no big deal at all. Once Amazon let me know that using others reviews was agains their reviews policy, I worked with them to correct it by asking them to remove my old reviews rather than me going back to find and edit the few reviews I had like that out of the 250+ reviews I had out there. They did as I asked and removed them, I did as they asked and stopped using others reviews. Now all is fine with me and Amazon, and I'm still a Vine member and reviewer. I'm sorry that you all got your undies in a bunch over this nonsense, but you need to get over it and move on with your lives...if you have lives to get on with, that is.
ReplyDeleteJoAnn, I guess it would figure that you guys are wacko right-wingers...if this is the type of issue that's important to you, and you like to make character attacks on people, it all fits perfectly with your conservative agenda.
ReplyDeleteSo only conservatives care about cheating? I didn't realize plagarism was a partisan issue, but if you want to make it one and claim that the left doesn't care about cheating/stealing or character, then I won't fight you.
ReplyDeleteLOL - I am liberal on many things and conservative on others but no matter what, plagiarism is wrong and unethical.
ReplyDeleteSo you are left-wing and think cheating is okay? Gee, why am I not surprised?
Joe Biden is a liar, a cheat, and a plagiarist. He is probably your hero. Figures.
You guys are all a bunch of books kooks. Is this what happens to lonely people when they get old and retire?
ReplyDeleteNeither would I, Robin. I have too much self-respect and too much respect for others to live that way.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, that long-winded BS that Smith posted below you is an example of his personal ethics. He did not ask Amazon to delete his reviews. It is standard operating procedure by Amazon to remove reviews that do not meet their ethical standards. Amazon will not take the time to research 250 reviews but when 15 or 20 are proved to be stolen material they eliminate everything else associated with the thief. That's what happened in this case.
ReplyDeleteNice shot, factotum. I see that Scott didn't bother to answer you - he knows when he's over-matched and starts making cowardly personal attacks instead.
ReplyDeleteAnnie, the guy is a hypocrite. I imagine that most of his heroes share his ethical outlook. Think Al Franken, for instance.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to shut this post down for comments now.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to document what's been going on around here since Scott became obsessed with posting on several threads here.
In addition, he's stalking me over on Amazon.com and leaving similar comments there on some of my reviews, particularly those on books written with a political slant to them.
I'm sure that Amazon is pleased by his statement that he is scamming the Vine program. The nerve of anyone admitting to something as dishonest as that in print amazes me.
Bye, Scott. As others have said, I don't want to live in your world - and I don't want you in mine.
