This will be very brief.
I've been forbidden by my eye surgeon to read or write anything for more than five minutes at a time once or twice a day for the next week. My eye surgery seems to have gone well, but the healing process and the proper setting of the implanted lens requires that I not focus too long on any one focal length. Apparently, there is a risk that the lens will not function properly in the long term if I do that while the eye heals around it.
Anyway, I just wanted to let everyone know that I have not disappeared for good...and that I still have to go through the same process with the left eye in mid-July.
You would not believe the reading withdrawal pain I'm going through right now. It's real...and it is driving me nuts.
Time to go...can't even proof this post until later, so I hope there are not too many typos in it.
Pleased to hear at least one eye is done. Hope it doesn't drive you too nuts not being able to read. Audio books? Take care.
ReplyDeleteOne down, and one to go, Cath. I had another checkup this morning and the eyesight in the surgically corrected eye is now 20-30. That doesn't sound like much to people used to good eyesight, but I am absolutely thrilled with the result - and it may get even better as the swelling finally goes completely away.
DeleteHope the healing process goes well; time to download a great audio book!
ReplyDeleteDiane, I discovered one of the best audiobooks ever: Little by Edward Carey. I just posted a review, in fact. If you like Dickensian-style novels, you HAVE to read this one...or even better, get the audiobook.
DeleteOh, man! I'm not sure I could go that long without reading. Hopefully it will all be worth it and your eyesight will improve greatly. Good luck with the recovery and healing.
ReplyDeleteI'm struggling to read still - and shouldn't overdo it - but that's mainly because I now have one eye that is EXTREMELY near-sighted and one that's a bit far-sighted. My brain is struggling to make a picture out of what it sees. But I'm so much closer to the end than I wa last week...
DeleteI'd be going through major reading withdrawal, too! Good luck. I hope your eyes heal up fine.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what I would have done without audiobooks and bookish podcasts. The only problem with listening to an audiobook at home is that I tend to fall asleep and then have to spend several minute trying to get back to the last part that I can actually remember. :-)
