Madison Central Library Displays Anti-Cop Art: Is This Political Correctness Run Amok?
Here's a question for you all to consider?
Should a public library (in this case, the Madison, WI, Central Library) display a piece of artwork that depicts policemen as ruthless assassins of young black people?
Does a picture like this, especially if displayed in a building that itself has an aura of respectability and authority, do more harm than good? Is the library tacitly attaching an element of truth to the picture it does not deserve?
Does it matter that the whole "Hands up, don't shoot" mantra is based on a lie?
Would taking down the painting be a form of censorship?
Where is the line drawn between censorship and brainwashing propaganda?
What would you do if the decision were yours?
