Do Not Miss "Taking Chance"
I watched an HBO movie tonight that is a must-see. It is a true story in which few names seem to have been changed and it is as current as the evening news. The movie is about one fallen Marine being escorted back from Iraq to Wyoming to his family and his final resting place.
I realize that it is only available to HBO subscribers at the moment - but it will be on DVD before you know it, so keep this title in mind: Taking Chance. Do not miss it because it is exactly the kind of movie that will put your everyday life into its proper perspective.
Is this anti-war, pro-war, or neutral?
ReplyDeleteI suppose it's all in the eye of the beholder. To me, it was a very patriotic look at the sacrifices being made by so many families today, and a procedure that has been highly under-covered - the process by which fallen soldiers are returned to this country for burial.
ReplyDeleteIf this doesn't put a tear in your eye, you're not human, regardless of your stance on the wars being fought right now.
It was written by a Marine colonel, so I suppose it is pro-military. Whether or not it is pro-war, I don't know...does that make it neutral?
I was really moved by the film, I do know that.
Cool. I just didn't want to watch someone's political views shoved at me. Guess I should've known you wouldn't recommend something like that.
ReplyDeleteYou know me better than that, Annie. :-)
