For me, the relationship between the young elephant and the young zookeeper is what made it special. I've passed my copy on to my granddaughter because I figure she will love it, too.Sam https://www.blogger.com/profile/17448913705757509608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38656633.post-50513072265531972082021-12-14T17:01:32.829-06:002021-12-14T17:01:32.829-06:00I'm glad you liked this one -- I did too. I liked how it was simply told ... with no extravagances ... other than the tale itself.thecuecardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08870323589682197091noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38656633.post-91701064502358206352021-12-13T11:59:42.161-06:002021-12-13T11:59:42.161-06:00I'm kind of funny about that. Belfast docks and manufacturing were targeted by the Germans over several nights of direct bombing raids..much like what happened in Plymouth and other port cities. What surprised me is that "The Troubles" continued on during WWII completely unabated.Sam https://www.blogger.com/profile/17448913705757509608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38656633.post-61380011969068479552021-12-09T15:25:18.202-06:002021-12-09T15:25:18.202-06:00Jeane, there is one section I should probably warn...Jeane, there is one section I should probably warn you about because you've expressed before that the kind of thing bothers you. It gets pretty explicit about the zoo animals being culled during the bombing because the local government became concerned that certain animals could be a danger to the population if they escaped the zoo during a bombing raid...just so you know,Sam https://www.blogger.com/profile/17448913705757509608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38656633.post-25958269047914171792021-12-09T15:23:40.303-06:002021-12-09T15:23:40.303-06:00I'd love to hear what you think about it, Susa...I'd love to hear what you think about it, Susan.
