There are several western-writers that I truly admire, and they are not generally the ones with the biggest names.

Thanks for stopping by.Sam https://www.blogger.com/profile/17448913705757509608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38656633.post-86170093227494918622020-11-20T03:50:08.859-06:002020-11-20T03:50:08.859-06:00Great review! It is a bit different from the novel, especially the ending, but both work very well. The novel is now somewhere in my top 5 western novels, ranked somewhere below Lonesome Dove. Shane is definitely a good guy, but he's a good guy with a colored past and being "good" is a struggle for him. It's very "literary" in the sense that it's main characters are complex and well-developed. And, it's short, coming in at about 125 pages depending on which edition you read.Sam https://www.blogger.com/profile/17448913705757509608noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-38656633.post-28879122503295386162020-09-15T14:54:29.721-05:002020-09-15T14:54:29.721-05:00The reason I love a good western is because wester...The reason I love a good western is because westerns are filled with heroes who stand up to the bad guys and who do the right thing. Even when it gets them in trouble. I haven't read this one, but I feel like I should just because it's so famous. :)Lark https://www.blogger.com/profile/13777891312147377769noreply@blogger.com
